Donation Spurs Liberty Humane Society's Recovery From Sandy

The Liberty Humane Society, which serves as the primary animal shelter for Jersey City and Hoboken, finished its post-Sandy repairs Friday thanks to a donation from the Canyon Creek Ranch's Better Way Project.

The Liberty Humane Society unveiled renovations made to its facility last week, some nine months after Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc on the Jersey City animal shelter, causing damage to the facility's roof and destroying untold supplies.

Recovery at the shelter, which serves the needs of the homeless pets of Hoboken and Jersey City, was enhanced by a $15,000 donation from natural pet food maker Canyon Creek Ranch through its Better Way Project, which is designed improve the lives of pets in communities around the country.

The Better Way Project provided funding and hands-on support to install a new shed to house shelter supplies, paint the facility's exterior and repair portions of the animal shelter's roof that sustained wind and water damage during the storm.
