Hoboken Brewery Earns $36K Via Successful Kickstarter Campaign

Trio hopes to open Hoboken's first brewery in decades.

Three Hobokonite home-brewers turning their attention to the craft beer business have raised more than $35,000 on Kickstarter in an effort to fund a big-time brewery here.

Colby Janisch, Tucker Littleton, and Andrew Brown began home brewing “with a 3 gallon pot and a home brewing kit” in an apartment at 902 Washington St. before officially forming an LLC in August of 2012.

Thus was born: 902 Brewing Company. The trio now hopes to open Hoboken's first brewery in decades.

From their Kickstarter page

“902 Brewing (www.902brewing.com) has made quite a splash in the local brewing scene over the past few years.  We've showcased our beers in many competitions, bringing in wins from Brooklyn, Hoboken, and Jersey City to name a few.  We've done giveaways at countless parties and convinced bar owners to give it a try.  The amount of positive feedback we've received makes us confident that it's time to go commercial.  We intend to produce and distribute craft beer in the New York/New Jersey region.”

The crew currently offers three staple beers—Hoboken Pale Ale, Black Dynomite Black IPA and Inconsiderate Dawwg Stout—but will rotate in a number of seasonal brews.

Tuesday is the final day to donate to the Kickstarter. You can follow the trio's epic journey on Facebook or Twitter.
