Hoboken Shoprite To Re-Open in Seven Days, for First Time Since Sandy

On February 9, Hoboken's Shoprite will reopen.

The wait is almost over.

On February 9, for the first time since Hurricane Sandy.

Beside opening back up, the owners of the Hoboken Shoprite — the Inserra family — will make a $25,000 donation to the Rebuild Hoboken Sandy Relief Fund.

“My family and I are extremely excited to reopen our doors to serve our Hoboken neighbors once more,” said Larry Inserra, president of Inserra Supermarkets, in a press release.

The re-opening of Shoprite, which has been eagerly awaited by neighborhood residents, will also include tastings and appearances from local politicians. The reopening, which will also include an official ribbon cutting, is taking place on Saturday February 9 at 9 a.m.

The entire store has been renovated after the heavy flooding it sustained during the hurricane. Once it opens, it will have been closed for more than three months.

You mean there is no need to go to the overpriced A&P with it's cashiers full of attitude?

I saved 37% at A&P just last week and the cashier was sweet as pie. Must be you.

No, its definitely them. Overpriced, rude, and the smallest chain grocery store I think I've ever been in! I have been going to the one by Target instead. Better prices, nicer people, and a bigger store. But I am so excited to get Shoprite back! I hope it still opens despite the winter storm...

I smiled and said, "Hi how are you?" at A&P last weekend when I was shopping. The cashier sneered at me. Can't wait for Shop Rite. Any idea if it'll open tomorrow even with the snow?
