Luxe Cosmetics Shop Reopens With New Owner

The beauty supply store is still located at 158 1st Street.

Luxe Face & Body, the downtown cosmetics shop at 158 1st Street, has reopened under new ownership after a brief closure this summer.

New owner Jahnalyn Tricarico said she was walking near her home on First Street when she saw the sign that said Luxe was going out of business. Previous owner was expecting a second child and had decided to retire.

Tricarico, who had studied at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York and had been working in corporate sales, approached Carnahan about buying the business.

"I always thought it was such a beautiful store," Tricarico said.

Tricarico said she had been looking to run her own business one day. "I always wanted to be on my own and to build something," she said. "And this (Hoboken) is exactly where I had always wanted to own a store."

Despite having been reopened for just a few days Tricarico said she has found support from Luxe's previously regular customers.

"Luxe was already a great business," she said. "The customer base that was already established has been amazing. They've been very supportive."

Tricarico said she has kept most of Luxe's existing inventory of organic and eco-friendly cosmetics, and plans to add a few new lines like Vincent Longo and also more products for men.

"It'll be the same feeling with a little bit of a twist," she said. "I want customers to feel as comfortable here as they always have."

The new Luxe will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12-8pm, Friday from 12-7pm, Saturday from 11am-6pm, and Sunday from 11am-4pm. It will be closed on Mondays. Tricarico said she is planning to host a grand reopening party in September on a date to be determined. For more information visit the Luxe website.
