New Restaurant Opens off the Beaten Path

The Fig Tree, a new restaurant at 306 Park Avenue, is now open.

The Fig Tree, Hoboken's newest fine dining restaurant, is now open at 306 Park Ave.

“We've been busy,” owner Gerry Farrelly said after opening in late April. “Business has been tremendous.” Farrelly owns the Fig Tree with his wife Amelia, her sister Sheila and Sheila's husband Mark Nisler. The four also own Zack's Oak Bar and Restaurant.

The restaurant is named for a fig tree growing in its enclosed backyard, where Farrelly said the restaurant will grow some of its own ingredients. The restaurant includes a front dining room, a bar, a middle dining room and a room in the back that can be sealed for private parties. Farrelly said the Fig Tree plans to add seating to the backyard.

The restaurant serves what is called Modern American Cuisine – a menu that is meant to be organic, seasonal, locally sourced and prepared by classically trained chefs. See the menu or make reservations at the Fig Tree website.

Coming soon: a children's clothing store moves.
