Enterprise Holdings Gives Back to the Hoboken Community in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Hoboken, New Jersey, January 27, 2014- In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Eastern New Jersey operations team of Enterprise Holdings, the corporate parent of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, assisted at the Hoboken Shelter by donating their time and establishing a toiletry drive.
“We are honored to give back to the community through our work with the Hoboken Shelter on this special day of service in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Erica Smutko, Human Resources manager. “With the frigid temperatures, it’s important to remember the men and women who are displaced on the streets. Our participation, made possible through the dedication of our employees, created a wonderful experience and connection with the community. As always, we strive to make a positive difference for communities in which we live and work.”
On January 7, the Northern New Jersey operations team assisted at the Hoboken Shelter. Due to the positive experience, the operations team decided to run a toiletry drive to benefit the Hoboken Shelter. The team collected items such as laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, socks and toothpaste. The team will be delivering these items to the shelter and providing assistance with the packing and storage, during the week of January 27.
Everyday, hundreds of people come to the Hoboken Shelter seeking food to eat, a safe place to sleep and help looking for jobs and apartments. Thanks to the continued contributions from companies like Enterprise Holdings, the Hoboken Shelter is able to help one person at a time.
