Dog Scavenger Hunt, 5K Charity Run This Week in Hoboken

Let us help you plan your week.

This past weekend marked the beginning of the first-ever Sniff and Mark Dog Scavenger Hunt in Hoboken.

Dog owners need only download a new smart phone app designed as a sort of Foursquare for dogs that enables them to "check in" their dogs during stops at various businesses and landmarks across the city. Players receive digital badges for collecting each location over the course of the four week scavenger hunt and those whose dogs make it to all 12 will be entered in a drawing for a variety of doggie-related goodies. Look for a full article on this to come later in the week.

On Tuesday, the Party With Purpose 5K and Kids' Fun Run return to Hoboken for a ninth year. The USA Track and Field-sanctioned race begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pier A Park and costs $30 in advance or $35 on the day of the race. Proceeds go to local children's-related charities.

The 5K will be preceded by a Kids’ Fun Run at 4:30 p.m. and followed by a free adult after party on the pier with food, drinks and live entertainment for runners, volunteers and sponsors around 8 p.m., immediately following the race.

Auditions begin this week for "Hoboken's Got Talent," a new citywide musical talent showcase for residents ages 7 to 21 that's being put on by the Housing Authority, but is open to residents from across the city.

A Brighter Mile, the recently launched website that connects local parents with babysitters who have professional education experience (full article to come later in the week), is teaming up with Hoboken Mommies to hold a Sitter Social Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Bistro.
