A Novel Idea for a Fundraiser. Plus, Remembering Schnackenburg's

So pick your favorite book, and design a meal around it. Like Georgette Heyer's "An Infamous Army", a love story wrapped around the Battle of Waterloo? Well, start with a vegetable Napoleon, followed, of course, by Beef Wellington. Some 20 dinner parties based on books are set for Saturday, Oct. 16, as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Hoboken Library.  Lots more info here. Nice profile of ex-Hoboken artist Carroll Jones III in the Hudson Reporter. The artist, who lists Edward Hopper among his influences, was recently commissioned by Hoboken's Dr. Merry Naddeo for a drawing of longtime local fave Schnackenburg's Luncheonette.

Ever think about going out to Yankee Stadium a little early to get your favorite player's autograph? Longtime New Jersey Devils fan Roger Muller did that one better—he had Devils star Zach Parise visit him Thursday. Of course, it helps that Muller has been a season ticket holder for 20 years. Devils players will be fanning out across the N.Y. metro area all month to deliver season tickets to longtime ticketholders.

Congrats to the Hoboken Young Dems for winning the Little League City Championship, defeating the Hoboken Fire Department team, 11-1 Wednesday evening.

Local residents Sandi Reinardy and Keith Furman got married last month in Newark. Reinardy, a Wisconsin native, works as a senior consultant for Heller Consulting on Hudson Street, while Furman is originally from West Nyack, N.Y. but has lived in Hoboken for more than 11 years. He the chief technology officer for Quarterhorse Technology in New York City and a member of the Hoboken Planning Board and the Hoboken Democratic Party Executive Committee.
