Hoboken May See Bike Sharing in Town

The city is asking its residents to fill out a survey about the possibility of bike sharing.

Over the last few years, the city has  and has tried to .

Now, the city wants to bring a bike sharing program to Hoboken and Jersey City in a partnership with the county. The Mile Square already has a car sharing program, . A bycicle sharing program would essentially work the same, with stations around town where bikes can be parked and picked up.

Major cities like Paris, Dublin and Boston have launched bike sharing programs.

The city is asking residents to fill out a survey on its website to see how many people would use the program and would like to see it in Hoboken.

Would you use a bike sharing program in town?

One only has to look at the large numbers of bikes at the PATH station to see that many in Hoboken have already embraced bikes. Also nice to see the County being more proactive.

I do like the idea, but I would love to read something about how we are going to clean our town and start fining people for dog crap and littering. The value of Hoboken keep going down as the streets get nastier and nastier every day.

Bike sharing works in European cities. It's great that Hoboken could be a leader in bike sharing in the US. This is what we want from city government, being proactive, creative, and working for us.
