PATH Service Between WTC and Hoboken Resumes For First Time Since Sandy

The line has been out of service since Hurricane Sandy hit in October 2012.

Many Hobokenites are getting their quick commute back.

Direct PATH service between the World Trade Center and Hoboken — which has been suspended since Hurricane Sandy three months ago — is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning at 6 a.m., the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced on Tuesday.

The line is that last one to resume service. For this first time since October 29, 2012, the PATH system is running normally during weekdays again.

Exchange Place and World Trade Center Stations will remain closed weekends during the month of February to allow crews uninterrupted time to complete necessary repairs.

The Hoboken line resumed service mid-December. Hoboken's PATH station was the last one to reopen after suffering the most severe damage.

The Port Authority expects overnight weekend service to return between Newark and World Trade Center in the month of March. At that time, all PATH service will be restored to pre-Sandy status.
