Zimmer Slate Sweeps Hoboken

Mayor Dawn Zimmer and her entire slate of council and school board candidates have won seats in Tuesday's election, according to unofficial election results.

With nearly all of the city's districts reporting, Mayor Dawn Zimmer, her three-man council team of David Mello, Ravi Bhalla and Jim Doyle, and the Zimmer-supported "Kids First" school board slate of Leon Gold, Irene Sobolov and Jennifer Evans have all prevailed in Tuesday's election, according to unofficial election results available on the Hudson County Clerk's website.

As of 10:30 p.m., Zimmer, who was opposed by state assemblyman Ruben Ramos and current Councilman Tim Occhipinti, had garnered 47 percent of the nearly 13,000 votes cast. Ramos, who conceded the race to Zimmer around 9 p.m., finished second with 35 percent of the mayoral vote. Occhipinti notched 17 percent.

Mello, Bhalla and Doyle each carried between 14 and 16 percent of council-at-large votes. Laura Miani (Vision for Hoboken), Eduardo Gonzalez (Vision for Hoboken), Joseph Mindak (Vision for Hoboken), Frank Raia (One Hoboken) and Peter Biancamano (One Hoboken) all finished within 200 votes of one another at around 9 percent each. Britney Montgomery-Cook (One Hoboken) and Patricia Waiters (Independent) both finished with under 8 percent of the vote.

Gold, Sobolov and Evans all received more than 15 percent of the board of education vote. Vanessa Falco, at 13 percent, was the next closest school board candidate.
