Hoboken Author Holly Metz Reading from Her New Book Killing the Poormaster

Join us Wednesday, February 20 at 6 pm to hear local author Holly Metz  resurrect a buried chapter of Hoboken’s past as she reads from her new book . Killing the Poormaster is the Depression-era story of Joe Scutellaro, who was accused of killing Harry Barck, the poormaster of Hoboken, while struggling to find public financial assistance for his family in New Jersey. Scutellaro's tragic turn reveals the shortcomings of the public relief system and the authorities responsible for the plight suffered by many Americans during the Depression.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
