Fundraiser Supports Re-Opening of Hoboken Family Planning Clinic

A group of women are trying to get the Hoboken Family Planning Clinic back on its feet more than 13 months since Superstorm Sandy destroyed its Grand Street offices.

A fundraiser Thursday will support re-opening the Hoboken Family Planning Clinic, which remains closed more than a year after Superstorm Sandy flooded its Grand Street offices with raw sewage, dirt and debris.

The fundraiser will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the 1004 Garden St. home of Beverly Savage, a member of the Friends of the Hoboken Family Planning Clinic.

The Clinic, which opened in 1972, provides gynecological care and screenings for cancer and other chronic medical conditions to low-income women. At least 400 women visited the clinic in the year prior to Sandy, according to the Friends of the Hoboken Family Planning Clinic's Facebook page.

Residents who wish to support the clinic's reproductive care and health care services for those who otherwise lack affordable access are asked to attend Thursday's fundraiser and make a donation.
