Party With Purpose 5K, Kids' Fun Run Return to Hoboken

The Party with Purpose 5K, Kids’ Fun Run and after party return to the Hoboken waterfront Tuesday for what the charity expects to be its biggest race yet.

Now in its ninth year, the timed USA Track and Field-sanctioned race begins at 7 p.m. at Pier A Park. It will be preceded by a Kids’ Fun Run at 4:30 p.m. and followed by a free adult after party on the pier with food, drinks and live entertainment for runners, volunteers and sponsors around 8 p.m., immediately following the race.

Entry is $35 on the day of the race.

Proceeds from the race — which is non-profit Party With Purpose’s main fundraising event for the year — go to local children-related charities, including the Hoboken Boys & Girls Club and Jubilee Center. Last year’s race attracted more than 1,500 runners and raised close to $50,000.

“As we continue to enjoy our tenth anniversary, we ask the community to join us in celebration with a day of fitness for the whole family,” said Scott Delea, founder of Party With Purpose, a entirely volunteer-run charity that creates unique fundraisers and donates the proceeds to local charities. “Moreover, the proceeds from this race will help us support over 10 children’s charities in our neighborhood.”

Participants are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot and a goody bag. 

Race numbers and number and t-shirts can be picked up at Fleet Feet (604 Washington St.) on the day of the race at the starting line on Pier A.
