HJSHS Poetry Slam Returns after Long Hiatus
Students recently performed original and favorite poems in front of audience.
On April 29th, students from HJSHS performed original as well as favorite poems before an appreciative audience. Organizers Mr. Barfield and Mrs. McGreivey would like to acknowledge the efforts of the performers in making a great evening. Performers included Mikey COlon, William Ithier III, Jaemi Yoon-Hendricks, Jaz Vergara, Alex Yoon-Hendricks, Gina Rotondi, Angelique Ventura, and Akilah Milo. We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the Student Council which held a bake sale at the event. Great job, everyone.
Several years ago, as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, the school hosted a regular series of these programs. Based on the success of this recent event, the school hopes to host additional evenings like this.
