The Redwing Reader, Hoboken’s only student newspaper, has won a second place award from the ASPA (The American Scholastic Press Association). Under the guidance of adviser Ms. Malenda and the leadership of the editor-in-chief Alex Yoon-Hendricks, this year’s newspaper earned 810 points out of a possible 1000 points in this nation-wide contest.
The newspaper competed in the Jr/Sr High School, enrollment 500-1000 division. The multifaceted array of articles comes from both Ms. Malenda’s newspaper club and her media literacy, journalism and graphic design classes. The Redwing Reader has previously won a proclamation from the mayor for its conscientious content. The paper is usually published 3 times a year. To see past issues please click here.
