Hoboken Superintendent Congratulates Class of 2014

Dr. Mark Toback: This is 'one of the most remarkable groups of young men and women to grace our halls.'

On behalf of the Hoboken Public School community, I want to extend my sincere congratulations to our graduating seniors. We wish you well as you move on to life after Hoboken High School. The graduating class of 2014 has secured its place as one of the most remarkable groups of young men and women to grace our halls. These students have flourished academically, with many also representing our school proudly on the athletic fields, in theatrical productions, and in local, state, and national academic competitions. While it has been a pleasure for the staff to have them here, and it is sad to see our seniors move on, we are also excited to think about the what the future holds for this accomplished group.

The schools that our graduating seniors will attend next year include some of the most highly-regarded colleges and universities in our country. Many of our students will be attending our proud state institutions such as Rutgers, Rowan, Ramapo, The College of New Jersey, and Montclair State. A number will be attending regional liberal arts schools in New England and private colleges in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New York. A significant number of students will be attending excellent out-of-state schools including Penn State University, Marist College, Drexel University, Iona College, Cal State, and Fullerton.
Our valedictorian will enroll in Bucknell University, a school considered one of the “hidden ivies” that admits fewer than 30% of applicants. Meanwhile, our salutatorian will venture much farther west to one of the top public research institutions, the University of California, Berkeley.

Congratulations are also in order for our parents and guardians, who have supported our graduating students throughout their academic careers. Clearly, your effort, sacrifices, and the encouragement you provided to your children have paid off in a big way. This payoff includes the approximately $1,900,000 in scholarship money that you and your children have earned.

No matter where they go, I am sure the Hoboken Class of 2014 will continue to be excellent representatives of their families and this community. Once again...Congratulations! We are very proud of our senior class.
