Acclaimed Doll Maker Brings Hoboken, NJ Baby to Every Home

Famed international doll maker Laura Tuzio-Ross crafted the bestselling Eleanor doll to look exactly like the daughter of Hoboken, NJ blogger Kathy Zucker.

Laura Tuzio-Ross is renowned internationally for her reborn dolls. A graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, Tuzio-Ross began her career as an illustrator for Campbell's Soup Company. In 2004, she began sculpting and illustrating "real" dolls and overnight, became one of the top industry sellers. Completed dolls retail internationally on QVC for $350-$650. Artists can purchase kits at her website, My World of Babies.

Exactly one year ago, I met Tuzio-Ross at a doll show in Teaneck, NJ. She was instantly captivated by my daughter Eleanor, who she said was, "unique looking." After asking permission, she photographed Eleanor from every possible angle to create a study enabling her to model a doll on my baby. The Eleanor doll went on sale in June 2013 to instant acclaim – the kits are sold out everywhere with a wait list for the finished version, which is available in a variety of ethnicities including African-American, Caucasian, Polynesian, and – of course – Chinese-American. To date, the Eleanor is the best-selling doll Tuzio-Ross has ever created.

Today, I will be bringing Eleanor to the JMK Doll Show at the Hilton Hotel in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, to receive her very own version of the doll designed to look exactly like her. I have been contacted by numerous Hoboken, NJ moms interested in coming to the doll show and buying the Eleanor.
