Mile Square Theatre presents Twelfth Night at Frank Sinatra Park

This past weekend, Mile Square Theatre opened its production of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." Though rain caused us to cancel on Friday, we had performances on Saturday and Sunday. Audiences have been charmed and dazzled by this production. You couldn't ask for a more remarkable setting for outdoor theatre—a view of the Hudson River with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

The play is a wonderful romantic comedy with a playful plot that involves cross-dressing, mistaken identity, music, and some of the most beautiful language in Shakespeare's canon. The company of professional actors includes some MST audience favorites, such as Matt Lawler (God of Carnage and currently filming "God's Pocket" with Philip Seymour Hoffman), Charlie Kevin (It's a Wonderful Life, God of Carnage, and recently Merrimack Rep's Glengarry Glen Ross), John Keller (It's a Wonderful Life, Orlando Shakesepeare), and Jen Ring (Rikki Tikki Tavi, Flare). Peter Daniel Straus (Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey) rounds out the cast as Feste the Clown.

We are proud of the production and we believe that events such as this help make our wonderful town an even better place to live. So come out to the show. Bring a blanket or a chair, a picnic dinner, or buy some of the delicious food Anthony Pino is selling in the cafe. It's a great night for the family or for a date. And you can't beat the price: ADMISSION IS FREE!

WEDS, FRI, SAT, AND SUN @ 8PM till July 14.

Twelfth Night is supported by Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the City of Hoboken, Bijou Properties, Ironstate, Hoboken Family Alliance, Mason Family Civic League, Party With Purpose, Pearson Foundation, The Rockefeller Group, and the Monroe Center for the Arts.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey Council on the Arts/Department of state, a partner agency of the National endowment for the arts and by funds from the national endowment for the arts, administered by the Hudson county office of cultural & heritage affairs, Thomas A. Degise, County Executive, and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
