Funeral Services Set for Long-Time Employee Freddie Moret

Environmental Services supervisor Freddie Moret died unexpectedly on May 24 while vacationing in Italy.

A funeral service for lifelong Hobokenite and dedicated city worker Freddie Moret will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Church.

Moret, 54, an Environmental Services and Emergency Management employee who spent decades working at the Municipal Garage, died unexpectedly on May 24 while vacationing in Italy with his wife, Frances.

"Over his 35-year career, Freddie saw Hoboken through some of its toughest challenges," Mayor Dawn Zimmer said in a statement. "In addition to taking on a management role in the municipal garage, he was a crucial part of the City’s emergency management team, most recently helping with rescue operations on the pay loader during Hurricane Sandy. His dedication and knowledge of Hoboken and its infrastructure was limitless, and he will be sorely missed by everyone. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this very challenging time."
