City Buys Four New Motorcycles for Hoboken Police Department

The Harley Davidsons will replace the bikes that were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

The city is buying four new motorcycles for $78,630, as approved by the City Council on Wednesday night.

The four bikes will replace four motorcycles that were destroyed in the city's municipal garage by Hurricane Sandy.

Councilman Tim Occhipinti accused the city of not properly instructing employees to remove the vehicles from the garage. In a heated dicussion between Occhipinti and Director of Health and Human Services Leo Pellegrini, the director explained that flooding in the city's municipal garage on Observer Highway was unprecedented.
