Edgewater Man Arrested After Threatening to Kill Someone

Hoboken police arrested an Edgewater man after he allegedly threatened to kill someone and assaulted an employee of 1 Republik around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to a report on the matter.

Ralphie Lopez, 36, was inside 1 Republik when he got involved in a verbal altercation with a waitress, according to a police report. When a 39-year-old man tried to interfere, Lopez allegedly became angry and made threats to the man, police said.

Lopez allegedly swung his fist, hitting a 28-year-old 1 Republik security employee, and started choking him, police said.

According to the police report he then allegedly said "I work for this town and I know the mayor and Luigi. I’m going to come back and kill you. I am going to come back and stab you. I ve done seven years in prison, I’ll be back for you on Monday."

Once outside, police tried arresting Lopez, who threatened the polic officers and tried to resist arrest, according to the report.

Police said Lopez was charged with disorderly conduct terroristic, threats and two counts of simple assault.
