Ex-Private School Substitute Teacher Gets 12 Years for Distributing Child Porn
Guy West, 45, who was a permanent sub at Stevens Cooperative School, pleaded guilty to sharing images and videos online.
A former substitute teacher at a local private school was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for distributing child porn online, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Guy West, 45, of Jersey City, who pleaded guilty in October to one count of distributing child pornography, was sentenced to 121 months in jail and a lifetime of supervised release.
West was a permanent substitute teacher who regularly supervised children between the ages of 2 and 14 at Stevens Cooperative School when he was arrested in January 2013.
West admitted he made images and video on Dec. 18, 2012 of child pornography stored on his computer for others to download through a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
An undercover officer that same day downloaded 120 images and 24 videos of child sex abuse from West through the file-sharing network, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
West agreed as part of his plea agreement to forfeit the computers and computer accessories he used to commit the crime, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
