Hoboken Police Department Promotes 2 to Lieutenant

Sgts. James Peck and Gino Jacobelli were sworn in as Hoboken's newest police lieutenants on July 29.

The Hoboken Police Department swore in two new lieutenants last week.

Sgts. James Peck and Gino Jacobelli were promoted from sergeant to lieutenant on Monday, July 29 during a well-attended ceremony at Hoboken City Hall.

Peck, who was appointed in 1994, and Jacobelli, who joined the force in 1992, have served the city of Hoboken as police officers for a combined 40 years, public safety director Jon Tooke said.

The promotions were made in anticipation of the Aug. 1 retirements of Lts. Martin Tavarez and Steven Drasheff, who had both served as city police officers for 25 years.
