Hobokenite Robbed From Cash in front of Apartment

An unidentified man asked the Hobokenite for cash, according to police reports.

A Hobokenite was allegedly robbed early Sunday morning after an unidentified man asked him for money in the street, according to police reports.

The incident occured in front of 400 Madison St. a little after 1 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

The 41-year-old Hoboken resident was sitting on a bench at Fourth and Madison St. when a man walked up to him and asked if he had some money to spare, police said. The Hobokenite reached into his pocket ready to give the man a dollar bill, but as he did so the cash was snatched from his hands and the man fled west, police said.

The victim followed the man, got a hold of his hoodie, but ultimately lost him, police said. Left behind on the scene were a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt, police said. 

The alleged thief took $42 from the Hobokenite, according to police.
