Police: Money stolen from Church's Poor Box

Police say a man walked into the church, pried the box open and took out $25.

After walking into the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul on Fourth and Hudson, a homeless man allegedly took $25 from the church's poor box.

Two church workers told police that the man walked in on Wednesday afternoon and pried open the box before walking out. While the women tried to stop the man, whom they described as tall, wearing a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt, he left the church and walked west on Fourth Street, police said.

The church worker said that the man, who is believed to be homeless, had been removed from the church recently, police said.
