Hoboken Man Loses Part of His Ear in Brawl

The fight took place early on Sunday on Third Street.

A Hoboken man had part of his ear bitten on Third Street in an early morning brawl on Sunday, police said. 

Hoboken Police arrested Richard Vasquez, a 22-year-old West Orange, and charged him with aggravated assault for allegedly punching the victim as well as biting off part of his ear. 

A Hoboken detective walked by the area early Sunday morning and witnessed a verbal altercation, police said. The victim, a 22-year-old Hobokenite, told police he had been assaulted and that part of his ear was bitten off, according to police reports.

The ear was missing a piece and there was blood gushing from the wound, police said. 

The victim told police that Vasquez had walked away on Third Street and a marked police car stopped him in front of 318 Washington St. a short while later, police said.

The victim told police that he was walking down Third Street after getting food at McDonalds when he witnessed a fight. 

"As he passed the parties fighting, he was pulled into the fight," the police report stated.

He was then struck by unknown people, the victim told police, and one man bit him in the ear, police said.

The victim was taken to the Hoboken University Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. Police looked for the missing part of the ear, but nothing was found, police said.
