Hoboken police are investigating who made the false 911 call Wednesday afternoon.

Hoboken Police are investigating an anonymous 911 caller who falsely reported a hostage situation Wednesday at a city construction site.

Police responded to the Bethesda Pentecostal Church at 707 Willow Ave. at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday with their guns drawn looking for a construction worker holding someone hostage, according to NJ.com.

However, the report turned out to be false and now police are investigating who placed the call, the report said. The caller could face a third-degree charge of making a false public call, according to the report.
