Police: Two Men Fight Hoboken Cab Driver

Around 2 a.m. on Monday, a physical altercation broke out when two men weren't let into a cab, police said.

A fight broke out early Monday morning on Hudson Place, police said, when two men tried to get into a Hoboken taxi.

According to police, two 23-year-olds — one from West Windsor and one from Jersey City — hailed a cab around 2 a.m. on Hudson Place. The two men tried to open the car's rear door, police said, trying to unlock it first by reaching inside the driver's seat window and hitting the button, police said.

In response, the driver allegedly bit one of the men's fingers and punched him in the face, police said.

The West Windsor resident, in turn, pulled the driver from the vehicle and punching him repeatedly, police said.

The cab driver, a Union City resident, told police that he told the two men to wiat in line, after they tried to get into his cab. Both parties claimed they acted in self defense, police said.

No arrests were made, but all three received summonses, police said.
