Screaming Passenger Helps Thwart Carjacking Attempt

Man crashes car he was trying to steal on Harrison Street, police said.

A man's attempt at carjacking a vehicle on Harrison Street was foiled when a passenger who was inside the idling car began screaming before the thief crashed and ran away, Hoboken Police said.

The carjacker appeared to be in his 20s and was wearing a black tank top and beige cargo shorts at the time of the incident at about 1 a.m. on May 25, according to NJ.com. 

The man has not been apprehended and there were no injuries during the incident.
