Two Newark Men Drown in Hudson River Near Pier C in Hoboken

One man died trying to save his friend, according to report.

Two Newark men drowned in the Hudson River near Pier C in Hoboken early Sunday morning.

Elias Serrano, 20, died after apparently jumping into the water, while Edwin Cruz Jr., 24, drowned when he dove in to try to save his friend at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, according to NJ.com.

The New York Harbor Police pulled the bodies from the water at about 8 a.m., NJ.com reported.
