Zimmer Selected for Obama's Climate Change Task Force

Mayor Dawn Zimmer one of 26 state, local and tribal leaders named to President Barack Obama's climate change task force.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer will advise the Obama Administration on how the federal government can improve its response to the needs of communities like Hoboken that have been affected by extreme weather events, the city announced Friday.

Zimmer joins eight governors, two tribal leaders and 15 other local officials from across the country who will use their personal experiences dealing with and preparing for extreme weather events to inform the Administration as members of the president's Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience.

“One year ago, our community experienced the kind of disaster that will become more and more frequent as a result of climate change,” Zimmer said in a statement. “I am honored to be a part of this initiative and look forward to sharing our experiences and lessons to help make communities nationwide more resilient."
