Multi-Artist Fence Mural Opens at Maxwell Place

A public mural along fences around the newest Maxwell place condo building opened to the public Thursday.

A mural showcasing the work of 20 local artists was unveiled Thursday morning outside a Maxwell Place condo building.

The exhibit, titled “Art Along the Fence,” is on display on fences around Toll Brothers’ newest and currently under construction building, located at 1100 Maxwell Place.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Geraldine Fallo, the city’s administrator of cultural affairs who selected the 20 muralists for the project, attended Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

“I am so pleased to be here to celebrate the work of these great local artists,” said Zimmer, who toured the exhibit accompanied by eight of the featured muralists.

Condos at 1100 Maxwell Place — part of the larger Maxwell Place development on the waterfront between 11th and 12 streets — hit the market last month. The building won’t be ready for occupancy until next year, but more than one-quarter of the apartments have already been purchased, Toll Brothers spokesman Ron Simoncini said.
