New York Times Best-Selling Author Reads for the Record at HoLa Charter School

Best-selling author Loren Long, author of "Otis," will participate in a record-setting reading event at HoLa Charter School on Thursday.

New York Times best-selling author Loren Long will visit the Hoboken Dual Language Charter School (HoLa) Thursday as part of the Read for the Record campaign.

The national literacy campaign, which Jumpstart launched in 2006, in connection with the Pearson Foundation, will attempt to to bring millions of people together to create the largest-ever shared reading experience in a live video chat.

On Thursday at 1 p.m., Long will read his book, "Otis" on Google+ Hangout on Air in concert with scores of students, teachers and parents from across the country.

To join the campaign and read along with Long, visit We Give Books, the free digital reading initiative of the Penguin Group and the Pearson Foundation, and pledge to read "Otis" on Thursday.

More than 2 million people participated in last year's Read for the Record event, which featured David Soman and Jacky Davis' book, "Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad."
