What does this tell us? First off note that all 4 politicians are Old Guard candidates, who have supported each other, running for office. Also Note that that there were zero reformers taking Birdsall cash. What is also interesting is that all received “secret” payments, indicated by “S”. The secret payments were made by Birdsall employees who according to the investigation were later reimbursed by Birdsall. By law, a vendor doing business with Hoboken such as Birdsall is allowed to contribute a maximum of $300.

In total Peter Cammarano received $1650, or $1350 in illegal payments.

Tim (“Independent”) Occhipinti received $300.

The Frank Raia led BOE slate received $600 for 3 candidates.

Antony Romano received $500 or $150 in illegal payments.

The pattern is unmistakable. If you vote this November for an Old Guard candidate the odds are if elected the days of perp walks, widespread patronage and fiscal impropriety will no doubt reoccur. Birdsall throughout the state knew who they had to pay in order to obtain favoritism in local contracts. Tim Occhipinti was against Boswell Engineering obtaining a contract. Boswell was a competitor to Birdsall. Timmy has some explaining to do, but don’t hold your breath on this part of the deal.
