Lautenberg Bets on Giants with Carlo's Bakery Cake

Senator Lautenberg appeared at Carlo's bakery today to announce his wager with Senator John Kerry for the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Just 48 hours before kick-off, U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) raised the stakes for Sunday’s Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, wagering a bet with Massachusetts Senator John Kerry.

If the Patriots win, he owes Kerry one of Carlo’s finest cakes, but if the Giants are victorious, then Kerry owes him a Boston Cream Pie sent directly from Massachusetts.

"I'm betting a Carlo’s cake against a Boston Crème pie [that the Giants will win Sunday]," Lautenberg said Friday afternoon, "and we don’t like Boston Crème Pie around here!"

"Who put a Y next to the N on that cake?" Lautenberg asked, to cheering from Cake Boss fans.

When asked his prediction of the game's score, Lautenberg replied, "I would be satisfied with a ten point victory, a field goal and a touchdown ... Brady’s a good quarterback, but we have the better team."
