Children Splash and Play at New Housing Authority Spray Park

Hoboken Housing Authority residents christened a new sprinkler park and playground on Wednesday.

Local children wasted no time Wednesday breaking in the Hoboken Housing Authority's new Splash and Spray Park.

Located at 411 Marshall Dr., the new park combines a soft splash pad, ground sprays and buckets that dump water with a traditional playground with slides and swings.

“This space will allow for our younger residents to enjoy the summer in a fun and healthy way,” said HHA executive director Carmelo Garcia, who attended Wednesday's spray park ribbon cutting with HHA board chairman Rob Davis and vice chairman Eduardo Gonzalez. “We were fortunate to have the financial stability in the housing authority and be able to bring such a fantastic feature to our residents.”

The $110,000 playground, built atop what was once a vacant dirt lot, was paid for from the authority's capital funds, Garcia said.
