Hudson County Under Overnight Wind Advisory; Flooding Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Hudson County from midnight Tuesday until early Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy rain and winds strong enough to fell trees and knock out power across the city are anticipated overnight Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.

The NWS has issued a wind advisory for Hoboken and the rest of Hudson County beginning midnight Tuesday and extending through 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Winds are expected to range from 20-to-30 miles per hour, with swirling gusts from the southeast reaching as high as 50 miles per hour, according to the weather service's alert.

The strongest winds, which could snap tree limbs and possibly even down a few trees, are anticipated between late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The NWS has so far refrained from issuing a flood watch, but that could change if heavy rains pick up, according to the alert.

Motorists should exercise caution while traveling through the wet and windy conditions.
