Hoboken Ambulance Corps President Tommy Molta Honored

After 25 years of service, Thomas Molta was honored on Wednesday evening.

They're there at every fire. They're at every accident. They work long hours on St. Patrick's Day. They're on duty, rain or shine.

The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

And on Wednesday night, HVAC president Tommy Molta—also a retired fire captain—received a plaque for his service on the corps for the past 25 years.

"They're always there, it's as simple as that," said Fire Chief Richard Blohm, who handed Molta his recognition.

Molta, too, said he was very happy to get recognition from the fire department.

"I'm ecstatic," Molta said. "You don't know how much they appreciate it ... this makes it worth it."

As a retired fire captain, Molta said he understands the job of the firemen, which helps the communication between the fire department and the HVAC. Molta is the only Hoboken firemen on the corps, but a Kearny fire captain and five Jersey City firemen also serve on the HVAC.

"This is what it's all about," Molta said, as he was congratulated by many of his colleagues. The plaque will be hung at the HVAC headquarters on uptown Clinton Street.
