14th Street Viaduct Closure, City Council Meeting This Week in Hoboken

*The westbound side of the 14th Street Viaduct will be closed on an intermittent basis between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the next two months starting Tuesday while JH Reid General Contractor works on the steel erection for the northern half of the proposed superstructure construction.

*Hoboken City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The meeting agenda and resolutions are available on the city website.

*Residents are invited to attend a workshop on community sustainability and resiliency Tuesday at the Rue School gym, located at 301 Garden Street in Southwest Hoboken, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

*In honor of National Hunger Action Month, Mayor Dawn Zimmer and several members of the Hoboken police and fire departments will serve as honorary grocery baggers to at the Hoboken ShopRite on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon. The store is accepting monetary donations to help fill the shelves of community food banks. 

*The Turtle Club in Hoboken will hold a private retirement party Wednesday at 7 p.m. for Woodbridge native and former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed while making a tackle during a game in October 2010.

Farmers' Markets

*The Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market is open Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Washington Street between Newark Street and Observer Highway.

*Residents can grab fresh produce at the Hoboken Uptown Farmers’ Market on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the corner of 13th and Hudson streets.
