Christmas Tree & Menorah Lightings, Sandy Grant Workshop This Week in Hoboken

Let us help you plan your week.

As families continue to chow down on Thanksgiving leftovers this week, the city of Hoboken is wasting no time kicking off the holiday season. Hoboken will hold its annual Menorah lighting on Monday at 6 p.m. and its annual Christmas Tree lighting and children's caroling event on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., both outside of City Hall.

Also on Tuesday, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority will host a workshop for businesses damaged by Superstorm Sandy. Local business owners whose businesses sustained damage during Sandy and are seeking economic assistance can schedule appointments with a business advisor throughout the day Tuesday at Hoboken City Hall.

Hoboken City Council meets Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting agenda and resolutions for adoption are posted on the city's website.

If you have clothing you aren't sure what to do with, get restyled for charity on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Iconic Fashion Lounge, 509 Washington St. Just bring in up to five items and Dorian Cattani from The Closet Rescue will help you figure out whether they'll work for you or whether they're best donated to someone else in need. Customers who donate clothing receive 10 percent off same day store purchases.

The Hoboken Family Alliance, which kicked off its holiday toy drive last week, presents residents with another opportunity to donate to those in need this holiday season. Donations of toys should be new and unwrapped, for ages infant to 17, and will be distributed to needy kids in and around Hoboken. Click here for a list of drop-off spots around the city.
