Election Day, Pop-up Bakery This Week in Hoboken

After months of political campaigning, election day is finally here on Tuesday. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To determine the polling location where you should vote, click through this link and enter your address.

In the local Hoboken elections, voters will select a mayor from the following three candidates:

Tim Occhipinti
Ruben Ramos
Dawn Zimmer
 
Three city council members from the following 10 candidates:

The local public question, which appeared on last year's ballot and failedbut was later overturned, involves changing the city's rent control ordinance. It asks:

"Shall the City of Hoboken continue annual rent increase protections for current residents of rent controlled properties, but allow property owners to negotiate rents for vacant apartments and exempt buildings with one-to-four units and condominium units from the rent leveling ordinance by adopting the proposed amendment to Chapter 155 of the Code of the City of Hoboken?"

Following Tuesday's election, the Hoboken City Council will meet for a regular meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Click through to see the agenda and resolutions up for adoption.

Also on Wednesday, the Hudson Cakery in Weehawken will commemorate the first anniversary of Superstorm Sandy by treating the commuters of Hoboken and Weehawken to complimentary sweet treats from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the 14th Street Ferry as a thanks for their continued support this past year.
