HHA Beautification, Jersey City Half Marathon and Oktoberfest Kickoff This Weekend

Let us help you plan your weekend.

*Hoboken Volunteers are partnering with the Hoboken Housing Authority to hold a community planting event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the HHA Quad on Jackson Street between 3rd and 4th streets. Interested volunteers should bring shovels, rakes and gloves for a morning and afternoon of beautifying the quad and planting perennials.

*The Hoboken Housing Authority Resident Advisory Board and Tenant Association are hosting a voter registration rally at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mama Johnson Field to get residents registered to vote and educate them on absentee ballots. For information, call Shawna Oliver at (201) 239-2170.

*The Jersey City half marathon is on Sunday. The race has been called the most beautiful course in the Tri-State area with spectacular views of Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazano Bridge. Proceeds from the half marathon will be donated to the Jersey City Medical Center. For registration details visit www.newporthalfmarathon.com or call 201-665-4005.

*To kick off Oktoberfest on Saturday, Pilsener Haus & Biergarten will unveil a new Oktoberfest menu and hold a keg tapping ceremony at night. There will be a leiderhosen contest, mug holding competitions a pig roast and live music.

*Check out the “Triad” exhibition at the Hob’Art Gallery, located at the Monroe Art Center this weekend. It's on display Thursday through Sudany from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 29.

*The Hoboken Family Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14th Street and Garden Street.

*The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held this Saturday at Liberty State Park in Jersey City from 9 a.m. to noon. Join a team today at alz.org/walk or call (201) 261-6009.
