Movember Open Bar, Pet Adoptions, PATH Closures This Weekend in Hoboken

Let us help you plan your weekend.

*Support men's health on Friday at the Second Annual Movember Open Bar at Willie McBride's, 616 Grand St. For $50, guests can enjoy an open bar of domestic beers, wine and mixed drinks from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. A large portion of the proceeds go to generate awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, and men's mental health. Say "Movember" at the door to have your cover charge waived. The night will also feature live music after 11 p.m. and a mustache competition, judged and awarded by V's Barbershop in Hoboken.

*Learn about personal preparedness plans this Sunday at the Hoboken Historical Museum when Lou Casciano, coordinator of the Hoboken Community Emergency Response Team, will speak on the subject at 4 p.m.

*The World Trade Center and Exchange Place PATH stations will be closed this weekend while the tunnels that connect the stations are power washed to remove residual salt left behind by Superstorm Sandy. Visit the PATH website for more information on train schedules and station closures.

*St. Matthew Trinity Church, 57 8th St., will host a free concert Sunday at 5 p.m. with performances by musicians from Redeemer Hoboken. Dinner and childcare will be provided at the event, proceeds from any donations received will go to In Jesus' Name charities.

*Local singer/songwriter Allison Strong will perform live acoustic tunes Friday at 6 p.m. at Mint Market, 303 1st St.. RSVP for the free event by emailing info@shopmintmarket.com. Mint Market will offer 15 percent off purchases made during the event hours.

*A floral design class is being offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at 519 Adams St. The class is intended to guide attendants through a few simple and practical designs perfect for the Thanksgiving table. The $55 cost includes vases, tools, flowers and advice on everyday flower purchases.

*A Pathway to Hope, an animal rescue organization, will hold an adoption event at 619 Marin Blvd. in Jersey City on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parking is available.

*Hoboken Pet, 524 Washington St., will hold an adoption event starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, just in time for the holidays.

*An exhibit examining the wide-ranging impact Superstorm Sandy has had on Hoboken opened recently at the Hoboken Historical Museum and remains on display through July 6, 2014.

*This is the final weekend for the Hoboken Family Farmers Market, which is open this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14th Street and Garden Street.

*The most recent work of accomplished blind artist Tim Lefens is on display through November in the gallery at Bwe Kafe, located at 1002 Washington St.

*The city hosts table tennis nights at the Multi-Service Center from 8 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. every Friday and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday for the rest of the year. Players of all ages are invited to attend the free games (children 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult), which will be held in the Multi-Service Center's second floor gym. Six tables, paddles and balls are available at the center.
