Our first time in Hoboken 15 years ago, our friends took us to Benny Tudino's. It took one experience to remember the name forever. The pizzas are excellent and it's worth the walk up to get there. Definitely worth going...over, and over, and over, and over, and over!

Still probably the best tasting pizza in town. Also, ya gotta love the nostalgic ambience, the old school Italian thing--for sure--but also a classic Americana, "Happy Days"-ish vibe. It's fun to see Bill Clinton and Danny Aiello's mugs up there too, chumming it up with the Tudino family, while you wait for your big yummy slice.

There's a true eclectic community at Benny's, family's mixing in with the blue collar "Hey Vito whaddaya say?" crowd, plus Stevens students, high school kids, and yes, the sometimes grumpy but usuually friendly staff (hey, you try standing in front of a hot pizza oven all day!). Maybe a touch of the carnivalesque.

Plus there's the electric inside/ outside energy, how the place has a visceral connection with the street as owner Benny sits outside chatting or waving to passerbys, a vision of an authentic Old Brooklyn, Old Bronx, Old Hoboken that is sadly vanishing in the alienating Yuppie milquetoast era.

Benny's might think of having its own TV show--a-la Cake Boss! To Tony especially, keep up the good work!!!!

I've always enjoyed Benny's pizzas etc, But some of the workers up front at the register are not very polite, very nasty and not very social with the customers. I had ordered a large pie. They had one on the counter and He put it in the oven and just heated it and gave to to me. I told him that I wanted a freshly made pie and He got loud and refused to give Me a fresh pie. He siad " This is a fresh pie" My daughter took the pie to avoid a scene . The pie was cold and dry and rubbery.... It is sad that an employee can be so rude to a customer.... A customer when ordering a pie to go should always get a fresh pie. not one laying there on the counter. also for the customer ordering a pie to eat in.. After all the years going to Benny's I've never experienced that before. & I've been ordering from them for years since the 60's....
