The Hoboken Charter School can be found on the third floor of a large school building on the corner of Fourth andMore Garden Street. The school has been open since 1998, a year after the charter was approved. 

It is a public school and students are accepted based on a lottery. The lottery usually takes place mid-January.

The Hoboken Board of Education consists of nine people under the leadership of a superintendent. The board has sixMore traditional public schools in its district, from pre-K through grade 12. 

The Board holds bimontly meetings on Tuesday at 7pm as well as special meetings at one of the district's schools.

Peter E. Carter was named Hoboken's interim superintendent of schools in July 2009. His predecessor Jack Raslowsky went on to be principal at a school in Manhattan.

The Jubilee Center

Established in 1996, the Jubilee Center is an after-school and summer program for the children in Hoboken's publicMore housing community. There are approximately 70 students from K-6th grade in the program. There are also special times for the planned vacation periods throughout the school year.
Calabro School

The Salvatore Calabro Elementary School is one of Hoboken's public elementary schools. The school has a diverseMore student body. According to the 2008 No Child Left Behind report cards, Calabro Elementary didn't reach its adequate yearly progress for the second year in a row. 

Attendance is high at the school, hovering around 93 percent, which is just a bit lower than the state average which is around 94 percent.
