The storefront space at 55 First St. that housed Air Studios for 13 years didn't stay empty for long after the fashion boutique recently moved around the corner to 92 Hudson Street. The 55 Group, which owns Air Studios, put a new business in their old place, a conceptual travel store called 1FiftyFive, which opened on Saturday. While Air Studios and its other sister store Platform sell higher-end fashions, 1FiftyFive is where where women can find everyday wear and especially clothes for traveling and visiting the beach, including tank tops, tee shirts, sun dresses, leggings and bathing suits. “We wanted to go for more of a Hamptonesque feel,” public relations manager Kate Phelan said. As a child growing up in New York City in the 1970s and '80s, my parents frequently took me on educational excursions all over the city and on short weekend trips up and down the East Coast.
