The Cake Boss is more than just canolis. Valastro is reportedly opening up a restaurant in Las Vegas.
Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro is about to get lucky in Vegas. Hoboken's most famous pastry chef is opening up a restaurant in the Palazzo Hotel there, according to the Las Vegas Sun. Valastro will open up an Italian restaurant — titled Buddy V's — this Fall, the newspaper reported on Wednesday. "Buddy promises that the menu at his new restaurant Buddy V’s will feature 'beloved recipes passed down by my mother, grandmother and aunts,'" according to the Las Vegas Sun. It's not the first time Valastro is stepping away from sweets to focus on savory dishes, in 2011 the Cake Boss hosted a cooking show.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Cake Boss Buddy Valastro inaugurated the city's upcoming bike share program on Thursday morning in a short ride along the water front. Zimmer used a Sobi bike, one of 25 bikes that will be placed in the streets of Hoboken, while Valastro drove off on a regular rental bike from Bike and Roll. The program will bring traditional bike rental and waterfront bike tours along with a 6-month pilot bike-sharing program to Hoboken, the city announced. The initiative will be at no cost to the city. The Sobi bikes, which can be locked in regular bike racks and don't need docking stations like the ones in New York City, are meant for Hobokenites who want to use the bikes for short rides around town. Reality TV star Buddy Valastro offers talk, decorating lessons.
LuNello's Montville Inn hosted a sold-out decorating lesson Thursday with Hobokenite and reality show star Buddy Valastro, the "Cake Boss." Buddy Valastro is noted for his TLC reality show which follows the trials of running a bakery business in Hoboken. The series has televised 150 shows within the last 5 years. During an evening of demostrations, Valastro talked about his start in the bakery business and answered questions about everything from baking to his children.

Cake Boss Buddy Valastro is expanding into New Jersey, opening bakeries in other towns.
The line to get into Carlo's Bakery now extends to Ridgewood. Thas is where 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro opened his second Carlo's Bakery location Sunday morning. Despite his aims to craft the Ridgewood location as less touristy than the original Hoboken store, the lines wrapped down the block. Fans glued their faces to the window while Buddy crafted Carlo's famous cakes with staff and family. Ridgewood council and chamber of commerce members were on hand to cut the red ribbon with Valastro under the spectre of media cameras and television crews from TLC's hit show "Cake Boss". Buddy Valastro will be among the guests at Saturday night's gala at the W Hotel. Tickets to the fancy gala — scheduled for Saturday February 2, to raise money for post Sandy recovery — cost $300. Beside Hoboken's most famous baker, reality stars Chris and Albie Manzo are also expected to show up. Other big names who have already committed to being at the gala are Dancing with the Stars dancer Anna Demidova, CBS 2's Katie McGee and Fox News' Juliet Huddy. Later this month, Hoboken's own Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro returns to the scene of his first ever live performance, the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, for a leg of his Homemade for the Holidays Tour. The show is one of 21 in just 22 days, and the only one scheduled in New Jersey, which is still recovering from the destruction unleashed by Hurricane Sandy two weeks ago. Valastro, whose bakery Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop was closed but unharmed during Sandy, said he considers himself one of the lucky ones. Carlo’s lost power and was closed for a week but avoided any property damage due to the storm. Buddy is expanding his empire. Our very own "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro will be setting up shop in Ridgewood's downtown, Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop confirmed to Patch. According to Valastro, the Hoboken tourist attraction will be opening another bakery at 12 Wilsey Square in Ridgewood, known as "The Playhouse Theater" building.
