Bands for Japan Has Something for Everyone

The Loyal We host a musical fest at Maxwell's on Thursday night to raise money for Japan disaster relief.

When Kate Sikora stepped on the Maxwell's stage Thursday night, her performance had a little bit more of a significance than ones she's done in the past. Unlike other shows, Sikora, guitarist, singer and synth-sound maker for Loyal We, was performing with a purpose. In 2005, Sikora and Lindsay Lueders found their love for karaoke after they covered Debbie Reynolds' "Tammy" in front a group of Japanese youth. Living together as roommates, the two formed their band, Loyal We, and hit it big with their debut album, "Holmes," releasing in Japan last year. Kicking for a Cause

Zog Sports held a kickball match that helped raise money for a local charity.

Most people haven't played kickball since their playground days, but on Thursday evening, the childhood sport was revived in Hoboken. For a good cause. Zog Sports held their spring championship playoffs, and eight teams were whittled down to two ultimate winners. Zog Sports is a recreational sports league for adults to meet, play and then share a drink afterward. They run leagues for wiffleball, bowling and soccer, among others. But what sets Zog Sports apart from other leagues is that each team plays for a charity of its choosing. When the team wins, so does its charity.
