There's a new Thursday night show at the Monroe Center for the Arts.
A city like Hoboken could always use more laughs. Starting this Thursday, and every Thursday night thereafter, Hobokenites can find them at a new comedy club opening at the Monroe Center for the Arts at 720 Monroe St. The club, on the building's second floor, is a joint venture between comedy promoter Bob Gonzo and event planner JoAnn Corso, who organizes entertainment and charity events through her company Heart-n-Soul Events, and also runs a non-profit called the United Miracles Network. Corso is friends with New Jersey based “bad boy” comedian Mike Marino, who introduced Corso to his manager Gonzo. Hobokenites get ready to launch their new sketch comedy Web show, 'Loft in Space.'
The premise for "Loft in Space," an upcoming sketch comedy show based in Hoboken, is pretty straightforward. A bunch of guys live in a loft. It's in space. Hilarity ensues. The brainchild of Bill Hamilton, Dave Calamoneri, Marc Giannotti and Frankie Dave Maggio—who also play together in rock band Nipsey—"Loft in Space" may well be what puts Hoboken on the comedy map. "We've all wanted to do sketch comedy for a long time," said Hamilton, who has a background in television production and editing.
